My Mistake

Ok guys, I know I’ve gone AWOL and I’ll be honest, I needed a small break from blogging for real life. And then today I paid my credit card bill and I realized that somewhere during this time, I messed up.

Yeah. My bill for last month was $1770. Now, I know not all of this is bad – I had to reserve some hotel rooms for my friend’s bachelorette party and I’ll get reimbursed for that by the other girls later. But the fact that I didn’t save up the money in advance to pay for this – and still spent about another $1000 – something went wrong.

I know I did a lot more shopping than I usually do. I bought clothes, shoes and ate out a lot. And I’m still trying to resist more shopping because I just found this coat and I can’t get it off of my mind:

I posted about it on Facebook and everyone told me just to get it. “Why not?” They asked.

Why not? Because it’s $205 after shipping. For a coat. That I don’t need.

On a side note, I think I started losing interest in this blog because I tried to make it more of a personal finance advice blog – and it turns out that’s not my strengths. I’m going to keep this what it started as – my own blog about my personal finance experiences.

I’m back. :)

Welcome back Kyle! $200 isn’t too bad for a coat in my opinion, unless you’ll only get minimal use out of it. I would be worried about spending that much on a white coat like that which could get stained and dirty.

As for your blog not being just finance related, don’t worry about it. The more personal blogs are much more entertaining. Just don’t get too girly or you might lose my interest lol.

Thanks Jeremy for always sticking by my blog! I know it’s bad that it’s white but it’s still pretty haha. And don’t worry, I don’t plan to get that girly – I’m not a very girly girl to begin with anyway. :)

I have that coat! …Pretty much. I have a coat that looks like it, except for the black buttons and tulle. Hmmm….wheels are spinning. I just love upcycling! Do you have a coat you can alter and make your own? Aside from the buttons and tulle, it’s a pretty basic coat. Good luck fighting the demons–I get them so bad still. I honestly can’t be trusted to go to the mall for one thing; I’ll buy 10 things every time. I just know that and either take my sis with me, or don’t go at ALL! Hang in there…you’re not alone.

I don’t think I have a coat that I can alter – I actually don’t have that many coats to begin with. Although in SoCal, I guess we don’t need them. Thanks for sticking with my blog even with my absence!

I think having a blog for yourself is a much better idea. I started out as ALL PF and was extremely bored, now I’m just a variety.

Variety sounds like a good plan to me – I have to start writing what I love again instead of writing what I think I should.

Hi again! I’m glad I kept your blog in my reader. I think recycling straight PF material is boring, too, and I don’t feel compelled to repeat everything that’s already been said well by others. I prefer to read and write more personal material. How are your job and goals going?

I’m so glad you kept my blog in your reader! It means a lot to me – and I still read your blog even though I’m not commenting. I love how personal your blog is.

My job is going okay – things are fine except there’s so much to do and not enough time to do it in. Goals…I haven’t set some for myself in awhile but I think I need to soon.

Everyone needs a break every now and then. Glad you took a little time out, and hopefully you came back more refreshed.

First off, love that coat! Omg so cute! Second off, go for it. I’ve realized that I prefer blogging more about personal experience and my experiences with money than just writing posts about how to start and RRSP and blah blah blah. Welcome back!

That white coat looks gorgeous, but don’t you live in California? Do you really need a wool coat?

Did you end up buying the coat?
